We think all of you owe Loris Karius an apology.
Because in recent weeks, the big German has been awesome between the sticks for Liverpool, pulling off some vital saves and keeping five clean sheets in his last five appearances (UPDATE: six in six after today’s result).

In fact, regular No 1 Simon Mignolet isn’t getting a look in these days and is almost certain to leave the club over the summer.

Meanwhile, Karius continued his recent fine form against Newcastle this evening, pulling off a show-stopping save to deny Mohamed Diame in the final moments of the first-half.
With the Reds leading 1-0 (thanks to that guy Mohamed Salah, of course) the Magpies pushed forward to grab an equaliser just before half-time, with Dwight Gayle linking up with Diame who looked dead-certain to score from 20 yards right in the top corner.
But Karius, who had hardly anything to do in the opening 45 minutes, showed tremendous reflexes by springing across the goalmouth to tip the shot wide.

It looks awesome from the other angles too.
Needless to say, folks on Twitter were rightly impressed.
With Liverpool seemingly eyeing a summer move for Roma goalkeeper Alisson, Karius will want to carry on producing the goods in goal as Liverpool look to challenge Man United and Spurs for the runners-up place behinds City.
And next season, there’ll certainly harbour title-winning ambitions, and the former Mainz ‘keeper will definitely want to be a part of that.
